Photography has been part of both our lives since our high school days. Endless days in the dark room, journeys on the streets of Vancouver, our cameras an extension of our body always glued to our face. Our love affair with the art of photography led us to meet in the Photo-Imaging Program at Langara College in Vancouver. And the rest is a photographers DREAM!
We love each other ridiculously… yeah, a lot… and our devotion to each other has allowed for us to be the best business partners in the world. We are photographers, and this gift from God has allowed us to be part of so many celebrations of other people’s love for each other. We tear up at ceremonies, it’s such a beautiful thing we get to take part in!
Everyday we strive to be better than yesterday. We want to push the limits, yet remain grounded. Our goal is to continuously provide highly refined and creative imagery for our clients while trying not to be TOO serious about it! Cause we’re fun too…. not-so-serious…. c’mon
We met Elaine and Rich only a month ago! When they inquired with us for their upcoming September 17th wedding, we had just reopened that day. Af few days prior, our initial booking for that day had canceled on us. It was meant to be!
We took them to a very peculiar location in Burnaby – Dan and I were scouting for a wedding earlier this summer, but never ended up using the location. We thought this would be the perfect spot for Elaine and Rich! We do apologies for getting Elaine’s cute black and white shoes, and feet completely covered in dirt…! We were in some pretty grungy and straight up dirty locations, but they stuck through it and we appreciate that!!
September 17th isn’t too far away, and we are looking forward to their big day at the
Corpus Christi Church
and at
Kirin Restaurant by Starlight Casino
!
It’s hard to believe that Allyson and I never met before in life. After she and Stuart booked us last year for their wedding, we added each other on Facebook to discover that we had over 20 mutual friends! The morning of the big day, I met up with Allyson and her mom at
Bello Wedding World
where she was getting ready. On the way to the church from there, we discovered we had even more mutual friends and acquaintances. Crazy! We agreed that if we dug deep enough, we were probably somehow related. Too small of a world!
Allyson & Stuart had an awesome wedding party. We did creatives in and around New Westminster and the Quay after a wonderful ceremony at
All Saints Anglican Church
in Burnaby. The reception was held at the
Kirin Seafood Restaurant at the Starlight Casino
in New West. The night was full of festivities, including a photobooth that Stuart, Allyson and Stuart’s brother made by themselves. It was AWESOME! It functioned automatically – no photographer needed! You guys could probably start a business together, eh!!?
Thank you both for a wonderful day! Hope you both have a great honeymoon!
I don’t even know where to begin! Rosy and Shaun’s wedding and the days leading up to it went by so fast with so many events going on. I have said this before in other blog posts, and I can’t say it enough; I absolutely love learning about different cultures and seeing how marriage is celebrated by other ethnicities. Multiculturalism is something I am truly grateful for in Canada, and especially in Vancouver.
The ceremonies leading up to the Sikh wedding were so profound. It is amazing to see such a close bond within a family. I sometimes envy the way collective communities function over the individualistic approach to life that is so prominent in Western cultures. At weddings, Dan and I always see that family is top priority to our couples, but it’s amazing to see the emotions expressed at East Indian weddings. It’s very humbling to be part of that moment and to document it. Spending 4 days with Rosy’s family was incredible – everyone was so kind and generous to us.
We were a little surprised and intrigued to learn that Shaun is Catholic, but Dan and I got excited to find out that we would essentially be shooting two weddings! The Sikh ceremony took place at the
Akali Singh Sikh Temple
and the Catholic ceremony took place at the
Holy Rosary Cathedral
. Rosy & Shaun’s glamourous reception was at the
Bombay Banquet Hall
in Surrey – deeeelicious! The reception was preceded by a lovely lunch banquet in Vanouver – oiy, lots of food in one day!
Dan and I and our super awesome assistant Julian had such a great time and were just dazzled by the colors, food, emotions and culture of it all. I’ve never cried so much or so hard at a wedding before – not even at our own wedding!
Thank you, Rosy and Shaun and your families and friends, for having us be there with you! Here are some favorite images of the four days. Be sure to catch the two slideshows at the end! (At the end of the first slideshow will be a link to the second one!)
