Paul & Candace: E-session on Granville Island...oooh la la

A beautiful afternoon, one of our favorite locations, and a super gorgeous couple... Lucky us... Lucky lucky lucky...

Starting off the set with one of Dan's favorite tricks... Silhouettes!... well sorta.

Next one of Kat's favorite tricks....Flare. Lovely!
And some goof "n" around...why not?

Up for anything, a looking good while doing it! Jumping, light, and red heels...

"Hello Angels... ahhhh hmmm.... ummmm well, Angel."

Moody and intimate... Tee hee, we tip toed through one "unlocked" open gate into an Emily Carr workshop for this one.

Another moody portrait of these two in love.

Running away?
Nope, just havin fun with flash and shutter speedzzzzz...

Absolutely lovely heels Candace!

A twirl...

Guys, thanx for and awesome E-sesh. You two are too much fun.
We're so looking forward to your big day!

Best

Laura & Nathan: Creatives in the snow!

Vancouver is home to many beautiful things, amazing views, fantastic beaches, great shops... but it is also home to very "unpredictable" weather! Laura and Nathan's special day started off with a beautiful sun filtered slightly with thin clouds, a photographer's dream! Then it started to cloud up, "no problem, we'll work our magic." Then it started to rain a little, "out come plastic bags and umbrellas, still workable." Then it got really cold and windy, "Dan forgot to bring a jacket, thankfully our assistant had a spare." But to top everything off it started to hail and snow during the creatives.... my oh my, what a crazy day.

But we still had fun, and the wedding party was well prepared with an arsenal of colourful umbrellas and cars with heaters blasting between locations. Hope you enjoy the pics :)

The boys

Here she comes

The inside of the beautiful Sherbrooke Mennonite Church with Tilt-Shift loveliness.

A few candid shots during family portraits

We told you it was snowing, yes those are SANDALS two of the bridesmaids are wearing... They were a little chilled on the toes.

Off to somewhere undercover till the snow passes...

And to take some nifty photos while we're there. Concrete squares, a happy find!

Some kuel ring shotz by Kat.

A few more funky portraits with "super assistant" Matt on lighting, you may have seen him if you've been following us for a while. He's also a "super client," check out his blog Matt & Rachel.

Absolutely LOVE this one of the guys. Matt (super assistant) climbed up good and high to light this one.

Meanwhile, Kat grabbed this awesome detail of the boys standing on the cement pipe...auhh thing. That was BTW not really secure, is rolled back and forth a little... Safety first?

The boys... ahhh I mean, MEN....

The Ladies.

Goofin' around....all key shift style...

And a jumping shot, cause they're FUN!

Yes, that groomsmen is kissing the back of Nathan's head....

Skipping ahead to the dance

Some Photo-Booth highlights.

She was so much fun.

"The single guys," their words... No Lie.

Congrats to Laura and Nathan,
we had a blast and thank
you so much for having us as a
part of your day.

All the best

Sara Ciantar: Creative

A few days ago we had the unique privilege to photograph a good friend and the super talented musician Sara Ciantar.

This shot, for her newest CD cover, was a fun little setup with no fewer than 6 lights. She was super stoked and we can't wait to see the finished piece.

For those photo nuts that may be watching here is a lighting diagram of how we did this. We were going for a shadowless look, we started trying to go for a Victorian cameo feel but ended up with the above image instead. The numbers were;

f/16.5 @ the camera
f/16 metered for the ring flash
f/ 11.5 for the two front umbrellas
f/ 5.6 for the boomed face light (with grid attached)
f/ 22.5 for the two bare bulb kickers in the background which also lit the backdrop

Converted to B&W in Adobe Light-Room, Absolutely NO re-touching on this one.

Thanks and happy shooting,

Dan

Jo & Austin: Adventures in Ft. Langley

We went on a fun little trip with a couple of old friends, they just so happen to be getting married! And guess what, they asked if we could capture their day. "YES!!!" We exclaimed loudly.

Goofin' around by an old church.

A couple of characters they are.

They did this on their own, but then we asked them to "do it again"

Final shot of the night, thanks so much you two. You're just so fun, we are totally stoked for your wedding day.

Till then
